Yang Xutong, a 2016 PhD student from theDepartment of Applied Chemistry,NPU, was awarded “2019 CSTE outstanding young Research Award” for her research in the field of thermal/self-repairing/recyclable integrated polymer composite. On the evening of August 15th, she was invited to attend the award ceremony in Melbourne Conference and Exhibition center held by the Organizing Committee of the 22ndInternational Conference on Composite Materials (ICCM22).
CSTE Outstanding Young Researcher Award aims to make a commendation of young scientists with outstanding research capabilities in composite materials. The award is granted worldwide every two years, and only one winner each time. Yang Xutong was the first winner from China. This conference, with the theme of “advanced composites: research to impact”, covers polymer matrix composite, metal matrix composite, ceramic matrix composite, natural fiber composite, fiber metal laminateand other types of composite materials, providing a platform of communication for the researchersin the field of composite materials.
Adhering to the principle of diversification, innovation and internationalization,Graduate School of NPU has attached great importance to the innovation abilities of students, meanwhile we provide a platform for young tutors to improve their teaching ability. We encourage young tutors and graduate students to carry out innovative scientific research and participate in academic cooperationby establishing various funds and programs, such as the young tutor teaching ability improvement plan, graduate seed fund, doctoral thesis innovation fund, etc.
Weexerted great efforts tosupport the research teams in NPU, including the team of Professor Gu Junwei, who joined the 2017 and 2018 NPU young tutor teaching ability improvement plan. To organize academic exchange meetings; carry out academic exchanges and cooperation with well-known universities, research institutes and enterprises at home and abroad.Student Yang Xutong's research on the heat conduction mechanism of intrinsic high heat conduction liquid crystal epoxy and its composite materials was supported by the key project of 2019 doctoral thesis innovation fund (CX201920, under research).Yang Xutong received her bachelor's degree from NPU in 2016. In the same year, she was sent to pursue a doctor's degree under Professor Gu Junwei's SFPC research group. She is mainly engaged in the research on preparation of intrinsic high thermal conductivity epoxy resin and its composites based on multi-scale structural design and the study of thermal conductivity mechanism.
